The Grey Water Project organized the Earth day 2021 event featuring internationally-renowned speakers from National Geographic, Water.org and WWF. Students can win a chance to attend a design thinking workshop, learn how to install a simple greywater system, get inspired by international award-winning young scientists and changemakers. Moreover, the students interested in speaking up for the environment can join as a speaker as an open microphone volunteer at the event. Also, the Grey Water Project is planning an Art Competition for students aged 5-18 from all around the world. Based on the theme of Earth Day 2021, Restore Our Earth, students will create visual art by following guidelines set by the sponsor/organizer.
Contests like these are meant to promote environmental wellness and sustainability among current and future generations. These contests are organized so that students can become aware of the issues going on around them while simultaneously gaining a chance to speak up about their thoughts, views and solutions. Moreover, winners are awarded assorted prizes or recognition among the communities. Students can share their artwork, and winners can have their artwork displayed during the environment events.
The Grey Water Project started with conserving water. It is a non-profit whose main mission to promote the safe reuse of greywater and conservation through outreach, advocacy, policy changes and greywater curricula. Their vision for the future is to have greywater reuse follow trends similar to plastic and paper recycling. They want the future generation to grow up with this concept and make it a part of their everyday lives without having to think about it. It can be an automatic process, which can be made into reality by creating a water curriculum for elementary schools to start implementing.
