Virtual Earth Day Art Contest 2021

Today, our mother nature is in danger because of the polluted environment, dying forests, poisoned rivers, vanishing wildlife, eroding soil and rapid-fire development. As a result of this situation, we have been facing many problems such as a drastic change in the environment, diversity loss, species extinction and so on. The primary reason behind this problem is increasing human population growth and ever-increasing consumption. As per a report, it has been exposed that every year world’s rising population adds 37 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This emission comes from industry, agriculture, forestry, utilities, and transportation and has been polluting our environment. Since society is getting advanced with each passing year and new factories and machines are being made, somewhere our nature is losing the balance slightly. To raise the awareness of nature preservation, Sierra Nevada Alliance is now organizing Virtual Earth Day Art Contest.

This program is currently open for entries and hoping to ignite the creativity of all those who love the Lake Tahoe – Donner region. The contest will take place on March 25th and run through April 16th. For this year’s competition, the theme which is selected is “Recreate Responsibly”. Through the program, Sierra Nevada Alliance wants to remind people to help in keeping our environment clean and don’t leave trash. All artists and creatives from all walks of life are invited to send original artwork in the form of drawing, painting, or mixed media reflecting the theme “Recreate Responsibly.” The applications are open for students from any state in the United States. The program is divided into various age divisions, and the prizes will be distributed in each division.

Sierra Nevada Alliance was founded in 1993 as a charitable organization protecting and restoring Sierra lands, water and wildlife since then. It is a non-profit organization for which Laurel Ames was hired as the first Executive Director and served in this position until 2002.
