Democracy & Me Student Voices Competition for 8 to 12 Grade Students

The media has been playing an important role in helping to create a democratic culture. Its presence in a democratic country is as important as politic leaders. The decision of people regarding choosing their leaders mostly depends on the news that the media provide them. They also serve as watchdogs and reveal the errors and wrongdoings by the people in power, and expose those who are involved in scam and crime. They keep us informed of the incidents and work taking place in the country. Keeping the importance of media in mind, Democracy & Me has come up with a fantastic student voices competition. This contest is open for students only.

All the participants will be asked to share their thoughts through video, essay or other creative format on the role of media in our democracy. The prompt for this year is, “We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” The contest will choose candidates for two places: first and runner up. The award amount ranges from $500 to $1,000. This contest is designed to encourage young students to come up with their thoughts about the media and share them through their creative work. Democracy & Me wants to help students enhance their creativity and express their ideas well, and gain recognization.
