Vision Scholarships

The Calhoun Community College is announcing the Vision Scholarships for the students desiring to obtain higher education. The high school students interested in the dual enrollment program and high school students with a diploma or GED are encouraged to apply for the scholarship.

The Vision Scholarship is designed to succour students desiring to pursue the career of their choice. The scholarship will allow eligible students to take up to 9-credit hours tuition-free of charge and cover only general education academic courses. The scholarship will grant financial benefits to qualified students.

Calhoun Community College, founded in 1946, is a civic community college in Tanner, Alabama. The college is the largest of the 27 two-year institutions that form the Alabama Community College System. The college was named after the 7th vice president of America, John C. Calhoun. The Calhoun Community College serves just over 10,300 students and offers programs and 52 career and certificate programs. Of Calhoun’s 302 full-time employees, 133 serve on the college faculty.

Who May be Eligible?

To be eligible for the Vision Scholarship, the entrant must comply with the eligibility criteria for selection-

Criteria for high school dual enrollment students-

  • The candidate must be in grade 10, 11, or 12 and have a minimum cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
  • The candidate must meet all ACCS admissions and enrollment criteria.
  • The candidate must meet all applicable pre-requisites and all required placement scores before enrolling in courses.

Criteria for students with a high school diploma or GED-

  • The candidate must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • The candidate must complete the FAFSA.
  • The candidate must qualify for in-state tuition.
  • The candidate must register and pay for at least six credit hours for the spring 2021 semester.

Benefits

The scholar of the Vision Scholarship will receive various benefits. The scholarship will cover general education academic courses and a 50% match toward tuition for every tuition dollar paid. The scholar will be able to complete higher education and achieve success.
