The college was named after the 7th vice president of America, John C. Calhoun. The Calhoun Community College serves just over 10,300 students and offers programs and 52 career and certificate programs. Of Calhoun’s 302 full-time employees, 133 serve on the college faculty.

To be eligible for the Vision Scholarship, the entrant must comply with the eligibility criteria for selection-
Criteria for high school dual enrollment students-
- The candidate must be in grade 10, 11, or 12 and have a minimum cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- The candidate must meet all ACCS admissions and enrollment criteria.
- The candidate must meet all applicable pre-requisites and all required placement scores before enrolling in courses.
Criteria for students with a high school diploma or GED-
- The candidate must have a high school diploma or GED.
- The candidate must complete the FAFSA.
- The candidate must qualify for in-state tuition.
- The candidate must register and pay for at least six credit hours for the spring 2021 semester.
