SPIE International Day of Light Photo Contest

SPIE, The International society for optics and photonics is organizing the 2021 photo contest. The children of 13 to 17 years of age, both amateur and professionals are eligible to take part. The theme of the contest is A world of light: The vital role that light and light-based technologies play in daily life. The participants need to submit a photograph relating to the theme in a TIF/jpeg/jpg file format before September 16, 2021. The image should be 300 dpi or more and at least 3000 pixels on the longest side. Along with the photograph, the photographer’s name, contact address, title, and artist statement must be included. Two entries can be submitted at a maximum by one individual.

The winner will be rewarded with different monetary denominations, the first prize being US 2500. This is a great chance for the children to show their budding talent to the world. This contest can be a motivation for your child to build a future in the field. The students should be pushed enough to take part and show their talent. Also, through this contest, there will get to know their creativity and innovative skills and get a whole new perspective of their imagination. Also, the monetary rewards can help your child in taking photography classes, aid their dreams and achieve their goal in life.

Who May Be Eligible?

The candidates between the age of 13 to 17, both amateur and professionals are eligible to participate in the SPIE International Day of Light Photo Contest.

The SPIE and Optic org. employees, their immediate families, judges of the contest, and consultants/contractors of SPIE are not eligible to take part.

How to Apply

The theme of the contest is A world of light: The vital role that light and light-based technologies play in daily life. For applying, abide by the following rules:

  1. Digital photographs, photo titles, and artist statements should be submitted to the SPIE.org website.
  2. The photographs should be 300dpi or more and 3000 megapixels on the longest side.
  3. File size should range between 5MB to 20 MB.
  4. The file should be submitted in TIF and JPEG/JPG format.
  5. Two entries at max allowed per person.

The applications for the contest open from May 16, 2021, and will accept the photos till September 16, 2021. The winners will be notified on October 16, 2021.
