Nowadays, women are coming forward to serve as role models for younger generations, and they are making accomplishments in the fields like science, technology, engineering and math which are considered to be male-dominated areas. In an effort to recognize the contribution of women in the field of STEM, L’Oreal USA is now offering fantastic programs called “Women in Science Fellowships”. Women, who are postdoctoral scientists, can take advantage of these opportunities.
L’Oreal USA will award up to five fellowships to deserving students who meet the eligibility criteria. This company believes that the world needs science and science needs women because women in science have the power to change the world. Who May Be Eligible
Candidates with the following criteria will be selected for these programs:
- Candidates must have a conferred PhD and have started in a postdoctoral research position by January 30, 2021
- Applicants must maintain the status of postdoctoral researcher throughout the fellowship year;
- Recipients must be American born, naturalized citizen or permanent resident;
- Participants must be affiliated with a U.S. based academic or research institution;
- Students must plan to conduct their postdoctoral studies and research in the U.S.
- Applicants must be involved in basic research in the life and physical/material sciences, engineering & technology, computer science and mathematics;
- Candidates cannot be in a faculty position;
- Applicants must commit to at least twenty hours of activity in support of women and girls in science (e.g. mentoring, classroom visits, media, and events);
- Students must be available the week of November 15, 2021, for the For Women in Science Awards Week.
How to Apply
Candidates can apply through the online portal of the American Association for the Advancement of Science where they will be presented with a new application system. Candidates will need to log in or sign up through this new application system to take forward their application process.
Benefits
Five women postdoctoral scientists are selected annually for these fellowships worth $60,000 each. This amount will be granted to candidates in the honour of their contributions in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields and commitment to serving as role models for younger generations. With this award, candidates can release their financial burden and take their research career to the whole new level.
