FamMed Forum Poster Contest

The New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians, also known as NJAFP, announced poster abstracts contest for the 2021 Family Medicine Forum, which is the largest annual meeting of NJAFP. This is an opportunity for all NJAFP members to present their work to 200-250 family physician attendees. However, because of COVID-19, this poster contest is decided to be conducted virtually. The entries by physicians and residents will be judged by an expert panel to award a prize for first and second place. NJAFP members, friends, families, FamMed attendees, and colleagues vote for the People’s Choice Award. The research for posters must be relevant to family medicine, and an NJAFP must be a primary/secondary author.

Poster contests or poster presentations are one of the ways to communicate research topics/hypotheses in a short, concise form. These contests usually include two necessary elements – a brief/abstract and the poster along with two minutes of explanation. Poster presentations improve skills like analysis, evaluation, synthesizing, demonstrating, etc. Since they involve two minutes explanation, it also improves communication skills and the ability to present information in a concise manner.

The New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians, commonly called the NJAFP, has been advancing the cause of family patients and their physicians for over 50 years. They have nearly two thousand members, which also includes active practicing family physicians, medical students interested in the specialty, and residents in family medicine. This organization is the largest primary care medical society in the state, and its mission is to promote excellence in the practice and standards of Family Medicine. They provide benefits to the citizens of the state of New Jersey and promote their high standards. NJAFP promotes the importance of the patient/physician relationship, promotes and supports continuing medical education, assists men and women going into the practice of medicine, etc.
