The Custom House Maritime Museum is happily inviting students to benefit from their incredible scholarship competition. Fellows must be a junior or senior in good standing at one of the following high schools to qualify: East Lyme, Grasso Tech., Fisher’s Island, Fitch, Griswold, Ledyard, Lyme-Old Lyme, Montville, New London, NFA, Norwich Regional Tech., St. Bernard’s, Stonington, Williams School, Waterford, Wheeler, Marine Science Magnet High School to be eligible.

The Custom House Maritime Museum has created these scholarships to reduce the students’ educational expenses and help them achieve their career goals through education. This program is initiated to reduce the burden on students and make education affordable for them. The funds are designed to motivate students towards their education. This program motivates students to embrace their creative side and explore their talent by participating in the essay, poem or other writing skills.

The Custom House Maritime Museum situated in downtown New London is one of the most appreciated museums. The museum is at a short walking distance from the City’s railroad, bus & ferry transportation hub, and is open year-round. The museum is also involved in the progress of philanthropy to enhance the growth of society. The museum is known all across the country also for giving the society with different initiatives.

Who May Be Eligible

How to Apply

Please download the application from the website and go through the details well. Collect all the required information and other supporting documents to be considered for the awards. Make sure you know the deadline well as late applications or tasks submitted will not be accepted by the museum. The process of competition is easy.   • Please provide an original essay, short story, novella, play, movie script or poem based on the theme: the African-American experience in the maritime world.

Benefits

One most outstanding candidate will be selected to award the scholarship of $1000. The fund should only be used to pay the candidate’s academic needs like tuition, fees, and other requirements. This program encourages students to participate in the competition and embrace their creativity. The process is simple, which enables maximum students to participate.
