American Indian Science and Engineering Society has collaborated with ExxonMobil to sponsor a wonderful scholarship program for students. This funding scheme is effective for the academic year of 2021-2022. The motive of AISES behind providing this generous support is to help undergraduate, MS, and PhD students in financing geosciences fieldwork and research for summer 2021. If you have applied to and/or been accepted to a summer 2021 Geoscience field camp, then you are eligible to send your entry for this program. Moreover, you must be enrolled in an accredited BS, MS, or PhD program and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Geoscience is one of the booming fields out there. This field is a branch of science which includes studying and researching physical and chemical constitution of Earth and its atmosphere. It is becoming popular among students and provides many career opportunities for them. As a student of Geoscience, you not only gain classroom education but do researches and fieldwork. For a Geoscience student, it is very important to get involved in researches and fieldwork since it is also considered to be a part of the study which is called practical education. Since the cost of education is at its peak, spending money on researches or field works might prove a little bit intimidating for students who are already dealing with financial challenges. For such students, AISES with the support of ExxonMobil has created this scheme encouraging young geoscientist by funding their research and fieldwork.
AISES is also known as American Indian Science and Engineering Society was founded in 1977, and now has become a wide network of 5,600 individual members. It has been supporting 220 affiliated pre-college schools, 197 chartered colleges and university chapters, 3 tribal chapters, and 18 professional chapters in the U.S. and Canada. It is dedicated to promoting the highest standards of education and professional excellence to broaden the STEM workforce and grow sector support.

Who May Be Eligible

- Applicants must be a member of AISES;
- Candidates must be an enrolled citizen of a federally or state-recognized American Indian Tribe, Alaskan Native Village or are listed on the Native Hawaiian Rolls;
- Aspirants must be enrolled in an accredited BS, MS, or PhD program;
- Participants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0;
- Applicants must have applied or been accepted into a Geoscience Field Camp at the time of application or be able to provide a summary of their approved plan for Summer or Fall 2021 field-based research.

The scholarship is $3,000 in amount and will fund the research and fieldwork of all eligible students.
