Applications are open for the Visual Arts Contest funded by the American Geosciences Institute to celebrate Earth Science Week 2018. The contest is open to any interested person who is in grades K-5 and is a resident of the United States.
The visual arts theme for this year is: “Earth and Art”. The selected entry will win $300 and a copy of AGI’s The Geoscience Handbook and the winner’s and finalists’ names and entries will be posted to the Earth Science Week website.

Who May Eligible:
To eligible, the candidates must be following all the eligibility criteria:
- The visual arts contest is open to any interested person in grades K-5.
- You must also be a resident of the United States to enter.

Rules:
- Your artwork should focus on the topic “Earth and Art.”
- A valid submission will contain the following information:
- A two-dimensional (flat) visual arts project no larger than 24 x 36 inches, dealing with the topic “Earth as Inspiration.” Each visual arts project must be original, authentic, unpublished, the sole property and work of the entrant, and not previously submitted in any other contest.
- Your personal information and a one- to the two-sentence description in English of what the image demonstrates printed on the back of the visual arts project:
- First and last name
- Address
- Phone number
- E-mail address
- Description of artwork
- A completed and signed the entry form. Print out the entry form here and mail it to us with your artwork. Entries cannot be accepted without a signed entry form.
Benefits:
- The selected entry will win $300 and a copy of AGI’s The Geoscience Handbook.
- The winner’s and finalists’ names and entries will be posted to the Earth Science Week website.

All mailed submissions must be postmarked no later than Friday, October 19, 2018.
