The Faulkner Literary Committee has announced William Faulkner Literary Competition. All students attending a high school in Mississippi are welcome to apply for this contest. Applications are now open for this exciting competition, to all the budding writers in high schools across Mississippi. So, if you were looking for competitions to showcase your literary flair, then, this opportunity is for you!
The “William Faulkner Literary Competition” is an initiative to provide budding writers in Mississippi an opportunity to showcase their talent through short stories. Short stories enable writers to send a message or play with a concept without having to commit to a longer, more time-consuming project. They are more available to a wider range of readers, especially students, and offer a more condensed structure than full-length novels.
The Faulkner Literary Committee was formed in honor of William Faulkner. On September 25, 1897, on Jefferson Street in New Albany, Mississippi, William Faulkner was born. The 1949 Nobel Prize for Literature, the 1955 and 1963 Pulitzer Prizes for Fiction, and the 1951 and 1955 National Book Awards were among his many honors. They are proud to offer the William Faulkner Literary Contest for young authors, in recognition of the importance of being the birthplace of one of the most celebrated writers in American Literature in general and Southern Literature in particular.
