WaterWise High School Video Contest

We all are aware of the water crises that some of the parts of this world are dealing with. With each passing year, the water level is going down giving birth to many problems like water scarcity and drought, etc. Water is the source of life and without it, there would not be any form of life on the earth. Water pollution is also a matter of big concern for all of us. We, humans, are making rivers, oceans, and fountains filthy by dumping trash and chemicals. There are several places on earth where people do have not access to enough drinkable and freshwater, and they have to do so many struggles to provide themselves and their families with water to survive. Thereby, water conservation has become very imperative, and needed steps to preserve drikable and freshwater need to be taken. To do its part in educating people on water conservation, WaterWiseSB.org has brought an amazing video contest for 2022.

WaterWise Video Contest is 23 annual competition of WaterWiseSB.org and is open for high school students. It gives high school filmmakers throughout Santa Barbara County a chance to produce creative and high-quality 30-second videos on the importance of water conservation and water efficiency in Santa Barbara County. The winning entries may be aired on local TV, digital, and movie theater ads as a Public Service Announcement on water conservation. This year, WaterWiseSB.org will accept up to six video entries, three Spanish and three English, per school. The theme is “Be Water Wise in Your Garden”. Application period is open until March 4th, 2022. If you want to do something meaningful that leads to increased awareness among people about the water crisis, then look no further. This contest is your chance.

WaterWiseSB.org is working as the water conservation website for Santa Barbara County. This website holds one of many programs that has been created with the generous support of the network of Santa Barbara County Water Providers. It is a network that includes the Santa Barbara County Water Agency and water suppliers throughout the county. Together with its partner organizations, this website launches programs that promote water conservation and awareness.

Who is Eligible?

High school filmmakers throughout Santa Barbara County are welcome to apply.

How to Apply?

To participate, applicants will have to complete an online application form with all correct and complete information. They can upload video, as well as proof of copyright permission to this application form and submit it by the application deadline.

Benefits

The award will be granted as fellow:

  • 1st Place: $500
  • 1st Place (Spanish): $500
  • 2nd Place: $250
  • 3rd Place: $150
  • People’s Choice Award: $500
