Upakar Foundation Scholarship  

The Upakar Foundation is overwhelmed to invite Indian American Students to apply for its Scholarship. The graduating high school seniors need to be enrolled full-time at an accredited two or 4-year community college for the program.

The foundation introduced its award to financially assist students in their future career path. The recipients of the grant will be fortunate to complete their studies without any hurdles hitting across their way.

The Upakar Foundation was introduced in 1997 in the Washington, DC area. It serves academically outstanding Indian American students who require extra financial resources to pursue their college dreams.

Who May Eligible?

The students meeting up with the below-mentioned criteria will be able to enjoy the awards:

  • Must have either been born or have one parent born in the Republic of India
  • Must be either a U.S. citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card), holder
  • Must plan to enrol full-time in an accredited, not-for-profit, 4-year university or 2-year Community College, during the FALL of a scholarship cycle
  • Must have a prior year Family Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) on the IRS form 1040 of less than $90,000
  • Must currently be a graduating high school senior living in the USA
  • Must have a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.6 or higher (on a 4.0 scale)

How to Apply

Students are asked to download a Pdf Scholarship Application Form and adequately fill it to get applicable. The form is to be postmarked at Upakar Foundation 9015 Shady Grove Ct Gaithersburg, Md 20877.

Supporting Documents

  • Must complete the long essay and choose one of the short essays from the Common Application Essay prompts (commonapp.org)
  • Essays not written on the specific topics outlined will be disregarded, and the application will be considered incomplete.

Benefits

The Upakar Foundation is rewarding the below awards to the deserving scholars:

  • $8,000 over four years at a university ($2,000 per year)
  • $1,000 over two years at a community college ($500 per year) and can receive $4,000 over two years at university ($2000 per year).
  • Scholarships can be renewed annually for which the scholar has to maintain a predetermined minimum cumulative GPA.
