This scholarship will be aiding talented students desiring to complete higher studies in journalism. This scholarship is open to all high school seniors, regardless of gender or race.
The National Press Club designed this scholarship to assist students with financial support. The motive of this scholarship is to help students who are pursuing journalism overcome financial barriers and achieve success. This scholarship will provide deserving students with an adequate amount of funds for their Journalism tuition fees, books, and rooms.
The National Press Club, founded in 1908, is a professional organization and social community in Washington, D.C. or journalist and communications professionals. Many U.S. presidents have visited the Club. The Club’s emblem is the Owl, in deference to wisdom, awareness, and nights spent working.

Applicants interested in applying for The Richard G. Zimmerman Journalism Scholarship must follow the eligibility criteria-

How to Apply?
To apply for The Richard G. Zimmerman Journalism Scholarship, the candidate will have to send the application to Executive Director’s Office National Press Club Zimmerman Scholarship Committee 529 14th Street, N.W., 13th FLOOR Washington, DC 20045. The students must submit all the necessary supporting documents. Applicants must provide the asked information in triplicate. Failure to include all information in triplicate, including multimedia, will result in disqualification.
Supporting documents
- Newspaper articles must be reduced to 8 ½ by 11- inch sheets. These may be print articles (reduced to 8 ½ by 11 sizes) or multimedia stories on a CD or DVD.
- Three letters of recommendation from persons who are not members of your family.
- -Your high school transcript. Completed, signed copy of the Financial Aid Form (FAFSA) that you submitted.
- A letter of acceptance from the college/university of your choice or some documentation indicating where you have applied.
