Students who are attending Historically Black College or University have a great opportunity to apply for the Renee Starks Steed Memorial Scholarship. The United Negro College Fund is organizing this scholarship program for current sophomores, juniors, or seniors. This program will be a need-based scholarship that will be awarded during the 2020-2021 academic year.
The UNCF believes that no one should face difficulty achieving their higher education, so they decided to design this scholarship to help them out. The students will be judged based on their complete applications and will be awarded sufficient funds. The amount will help them in covering any of the educational expenses.
The United Negro College Fund is also known as the United Fund and works as an American philanthropic organization that funds black students’ scholarships and general scholarship funds for 37 private historically black colleges and universities. It was incorporated on April 25, 1944, by Frederick D. Patterson, Mary McLeod Bethune, and others. UNCF is headquartered at 1805 7th Street, NW, in Washington, D.C. In 2005, UNCF supported approximately 65,000 students at over 900 colleges and universities with approximately $113 million in grants and scholarships.
