The Raptor Trust was formed by Len Soucy, who was genuinely concerned for the well-being of raptors and interested in nature and, mainly, birds of prey. With the assistance of his wife, Diane and son, Chris, Len took a thoughtful initiative toward caring for the injured raptors.  Len started a small backyard hospital where Len, with his family and some volunteers, used to provide medical aid to the raptors. By the time his work started getting recognization, and the number of birds brought to his small backyard hospital increased. By the end of the 1970’s hundreds of birds of all kinds, not just raptors were brought to his hospital for treatment. In starting, Len and his wife financed the hospital by themselves but by the early ’80s, their project got bigger, and they could not afford to finance their expenses. In 1982 the operation was named The Raptor Trust and established.
