Nutrition Policy Institute Fellowships for Graduate Students

Nutrition Policy Institute is inviting talented and motivated students like you to join its fantastic fellowship program. NPI is offering this fellowship in recognization of students’ potential to contribute to a research project related to the mission and vision of this foundation. This is seven weeks long program that will provide all eligible students with $5,000 stipend as an award. All participants are required to work ten hours per week. To be chosen for this opportunity, candidates must be a registered graduate student at an accredited college or university and planning to remain enrolled for the duration of the award period. Recent postgraduates are also eligible to apply.

This program is going to start in January or February 2021 and can be completed remotely. There is one fellowship available at Nutrition Policy Institute. Participants will get a fund at the end of the fellowship or through agreement. Fellows work may include analyzing existing data to understand the relationship between the community and school-level programs and policies with student health and academic outcome and reviewing related literature. They will also help with writing one or more papers for submission to a peer-reviewed journal.

Nutrition Policy Institute is a US-based foundation committed to conduct and evaluate research related to the impact of nutrition and physical activity on public health. NPI prizes research that provides a strong basis for public policies which can eliminate health disparities, especially those stemming from lack of access to healthy foods and opportunities for physical activity. The mission of this organization is to conduct and translate policy-relevant research to transform environments for healthy children, families and communities.

Who May Be Eligible

Please meet the following criteria to be eligible for this program:

  • Candidates should be a registered graduate student at an accredited college or university and plan to remain enrolled for the duration of the award period. or
  • Recent postgraduates are also eligible (having graduated the preceding quarter or semester).
  • Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, F1 or J1 Visa holder, California AB540 student.
  • Aspirants should have a GPA of at least 3.0
  • Recipients of the fellowship should be a first-generation college student in good academic standing.
  • Participants must be proficient in conducting statistical analyses (e.g., factor analysis, multilevel multivariate regression) on complex datasets using SAS, Stata, SPSS, or R software.
