This scholarship is open to Black artists pursuing a collegiate education in direction for stage or screen. The application process of this program is straightforward so that numerous students can compete for it. The Next Wave Initiative has always been keen on supporting society.

The purpose of the firm behind introducing this scholarship is to provide considerable support to the students who are interested in directing. This program has been designed in the memory of Spike Lee, who made his directorial debut with She’s got to Have It. How to Apply

Interested and eligible students should download the application and complete it with all the needed details and materials to support their eligibility. Fellows should submit the requested materials through an email with a subject line: your name + Spike Lee App. Please send this mail to nextwave@directorscompany.org. All applications must be submitted by the deadline to be considered. After the application review, selected candidates will be invited for a zoom interview.

Supporting Documents

An electronic copy of your college acceptance letter and proof of your college semester class schedule must be provided.
A one-two page mission statement explaining why you are a Next Wave Initiative Scholar.

Benefits

Selected students will receive the award amount of $1986. This amount should be utilized to pay the candidates’ educational expenses like tuition, fees, and other related needs. This scholarship encourages students to maintain a good record in their academics as well as in their passion. This program motivates the students to achieve their career goals.
