League of Minnesota Cities is currently holding a wonderful program named “Mayor for a Day Essay Contest.” This writing competition is back again to give students a platform where they can showcase their talent and express their ideas and thoughts. This year, Mayor for a Day Essay Contest got more flexible than ever, allowing students to participate from a variety of learning environments and cities to connect with local students. Fourth, fifth, and sixth graders are being called to become a part of this program. To enter, candidates will have to answer a simple question: “What would you do if you were mayor for a day?”. Applicants whose answer gets success in impressing the judges will win $100 and recognition in Minnesota Cities magazine.
So do you dream of becoming the mayor of your city in the future? Do you have any ideas to improve the condition of your city and its residents? And are there any changes you would like to make if you were a mayor? If you say yes as an answer to any of these questions, then this competition is the right platform for you to exhibit your thoughts and desire. Students and parents/caregivers are allowed to submit essays via an online form, a PDF email attachment, or through the mail on behalf of participants. Winners only will be notified in early January regarding their application status. Entries will be considered for the program until Monday, December 6, 2021.
