The Lower Republican Natural Resources District has announced its annual scholarship program for those studying as 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-year college students in Nebraska. The opportunity is available to the students who have permanent residence in the LRNRD and must plan to major in natural resources-related fields such as forestry, park management, agronomy, agri-business, etc. Students interested in these fields and want to work for the natural resources and build their careers in the same are likely to apply for this program.
The candidates will be selected based on their application, essay, grades, class ranking (if applicable), extracurricular activities, community activities, and letters of recommendation. Two selected applicants will receive the amount of $1000 each. The amount is provided to utilize for their educational purposes and to manage the expenses required to seek education. The amount will be used as tuition fees, books, other materials, transportation, and other related. This will motivate and encourage students to grow their future in natural resources-related fields.
The LRNRD was started in 1972 and is one of the NRD’s formed by the Nebraska Unicameral. They provide different programs, services, and projects to promote natural resources and related fields. This scholarship is one of their programs to be conducted for those students who are looking forward to their future in these fields.

Who is Eligible?
- Applicant must be in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year of college in Nebraska
- Must be a full-time student
- Permanent resident in LRNRD
- Must have a plan to major in natural resources such as forestry, park management, agronomy, agri-business, etc.
How to Apply?
The eligible applicants who plan to major in natural resources or related fields should fill out the application by entering proper details in each field. With this application, candidates must attach a short essay explaining why they are interested in or should receive this scholarship and their major to do in natural resources, a copy of grades or transcripts, class ranking if applicable, and a list of extracurricular activities and community activities they have or currently are participating in, and three letters of recommendation including one from a person within their school, one from a person within their community, and one from a person of their choice who is not family-related. Among all the applications two best applications will be selected as winners and provided a scholarship amount worth $1000 to each winning entry. The amount will be used for their educational purposes, such as managing their education-related expenses like tuition assistance, books, other materials, transportation, and other required related fees. This scholarship will encourage students to do their best in the natural resources field and contribute to conserving natural resources. With this, students will be able to focus more on their studies and will have less financial concern so that they will be able to give their best to their chosen field.
Application Deadline
The students who fit into the eligibility criteria should submit all the required materials to their office before the deadline of March 01, 2022. Applications received after this date will not be considered eligible for this program.
