Chicago Writers Association is organizing a summer flash contest and is open for participation for its members. All the due-paying members of the CWA are allowed to submit an essay in around 500-words to take part. No specific genre is required. Your work can be fiction or non-fiction. For entering the contest, the candidates are required to submit an entry fee of $5 via PayPal. No more than one entry will be accepted per person. All the entries must be the original work of the author. No previously published work will be accepted. For submissions, send your work in a Word doc. Or PDF file to info@chicagowriters.org before June 30, 2021. If the submission will be in more than 500-words, it will be disqualified.
This is an excellent opportunity for the candidates to present their creativity in writing. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners will be awarded a sum of $250, $150 and $75 respectively and will be published in CWA’s Write City Magazine. The contest will open various career options for the winning candidates. The magazine has a wide reach and can help you reach a lot of audiences. Chicago Writers Association’s diverse membership ranges from professional freelancers and published authors to writers aspiring to be published and those who write as a creative outlet. Who May Be Eligible?
All the CWA due-paying members are eligible for the contest. You can submit your 500-word essay before midnight of June 30, 2021. No minimum age bars imposed. All the members can participate.
How to Apply?
For participating in the contest, the applicants need to fulfil the following conditions.
- Submit a 500-word essay in any genre, fiction or non-fiction.
- Entrants must pay an entry fee of $5 through PayPal.
- Only one entry per person is allowed.
- Submissions must be double-spaced, using 12-point Times New Roman font with one-inch margins.
- All entries must be original work of the author.
- More than 500-words in your piece will be disqualified.
- Entries must be e-mailed as a Word/PDF document with the subject heading ‘CWA Summer Flash Contest’ to: info@chicagowrites.org
- Please include your full name and verify that your CWA membership is paid. The author’s name shouldn’t be mentioned anywhere in the work.
