The Humanities Institute is calling the applicants to apply for the C.L. Barber Fellowship. The program is open for the U.S. students who want to continue their graduate study at any accredited university in the United Students. The Humanities Institute and Santa Cruz Shakespeare will jointly make the final decision on applications.
This fellowship is funded by The Humanities Institute and Shakespeare Workshop at U.C. Santa Cruz. The curriculum offers the opportunity for graduate students in the humanities to apply and expand their expertise in a non-academic environment while preparing for graduate studies. The program offers one master or doctoral student in Literature to serve as an assistant dramaturge.
The Humanities Institute at U.C. Santa Cruz is a centre for new directions in research and teaching, cross-discipline collaboration, and public participation. Its work focuses on Engaging the Public, Incubating Science, Fostering Critical Thinkers, and Rethinking Graduate Education. They are dedicated to connecting with the broadest group possible.

Who May Be Eligible?
Applicants must be:
- Students must be enrolled in the doctoral or masters program in Literature at U.C. Santa Cruz;
- Candidates must be in good academic standing (and, for doctoral students, within normative time);
- Applicants must be enrolled in at least five credits of graduate-level coursework (students are ineligible to apply while on leave).

Supporting Documents
Applicants need to submit the following:
- Cover Letter of 1 to 2 pages with outlining your interest in this position and your qualifications, including your interest in or experience with Shakespeare.
- CV or Resume of 1 to 2 pages.
- A signed form from the Graduate Director of the department is confirming that during the 2020-2021 academic Year you are in good academic standing and if a doctoral student, within normative period here.

The C.L. Barber Fellow will receive the following:
- A fellowship stipend of $5,000 will be paid for the winner of this program.
- The winner will receive the mentoring from Shakespeare Workshop, The Humanities Institute, and Santa Cruz Shakespeare.
