To acknowledge women’s ongoing contribution to mathematical sciences, Association for Women in Mathematics is happily announcing its essay contest available for 2021. This year, essay’s theme is biographies of contemporary women mathematicians and statisticians in academic, industrial, and government careers. The essay must be based on the interview with a woman currently working in a mathematical sciences career. To enter this essay contest, candidates need to be middle school, high school, and undergraduate students. Through this program, you can win free money that you can invest in your higher education or use to cover your expenses related to attending the college.
The main goal of this organization is to raise awareness among people about the contributions that women are making in mathematical science and related fields. Mathematical science is considered to be a male-dominated area, and women have been underrepresented in this field. However, women are doing great these days, but their contributions are not in the spotlight. Hence, Association for Women in Mathematics has designed this scheme that encourages students to write an essay that could help this foundation in its mission of recognizing the efforts of talented women who have been working in this field. So if you are good at writing essays, and need financial assistance, then this could be your opportunity through which you will not only gain support but contribute toward a social cause.
Association for Women in Mathematics was established in 1971 by a small group of talented women mathematicians. Now it has grown into a leading national society for women in the mathematical sciences. It is one of the 16 societies with the Conference Board of the Mathematical Sciences. It creates a variety of programs that supports not only those who take part in them but influence the mathematic culture in the society so that the young women who are entering in this field get nurturing and supporting environment.
