Apex Lions Club announced multiple scholarships in the form of the T.B. Holland Memorial Scholarship Program 2021. They are offering $1000 scholarships to up to three students and $500 scholarships to up to three other students. These scholarships are awarded to qualified students for college tuition and paid directly to their enrolled college. The amount will be applied for the 2021-2022 tuition cost and is a one-time, non-renewable payment. The scholarship applicants will be assessed based on the quality of an essay, and the best essay would be the one that exhibits great characteristics of service to the school, community and a vision for the future. Other factors include the usual recommendation letters, GPA, volunteer service, and financial/special needs.

Lions Clubs International, one of the world’s largest service club organizations, has many volunteers around the world. These volunteers work together to respond in the times of communities’ needs. Their mission is to empower volunteers to meet humanitarian needs, serve their communities, promote global goodwill and encourage peace. The Apex Lions Club is a part of this international organization and has provided services to the community in Apex, North Carolina. They resolve issues like providing eye exams and glasses to families in need and also collecting used eyeglasses and hearing aids to give them to the people who need them internationally. The Apex Lions Club has its own vision screening device, which helps in the early detection and treatment of vision impairments among children. They raise their revenue through various fundraising projects and support programs such as Camp Dogwood for the Blind, Diabetes Awareness, Leader Dogs, Boy Scout Troop, Boys, and Girls Home of North Carolina, Disaster Relief, Apex Police Department, Western Wake Crisis Center, and community needs.

How to Apply
Eligible candidates can complete the online form and write responses to essay prompts about volunteer services to school and community, along with a vision for the future. Recommendation letters from teachers and leaders, GPA, financial/special needs, volunteer service examples, especially to the Leo Club, Lions Club, or Boy Scout Troop 209, will also be considered. All scholarship applications must be submitted via mail by May 15Â to Scholarship@ApexLions.org.
