A Voice for Animals Contest

We humans and animals have been sharing a strong bond for a long time. From companionship to service, we are dependent on animals. Animals have been making a few contributions to helping our society function. The life in rural areas still revolve around the animals and people in such areas use an animal for farming, guarding and livestock business and as food supply, source of income, assets saving and livelihood etc. Especially, livestock species have been playing an economic and social-cultural role in the wellbeing of the rural household. Keeping the importance of the animal in mind, Humane Education Network has designed a wonderful program called “A Voice for Animals Contest”. This competition is open for students currently enrolled in middle or high school, or be home-schooled, and less than 19 years of age on February 1, 2021.

For this program, participants will be selected regardless of their nationality, citizenship, or country of residence. This competition is divided into two parts: first for 14 to 15 years old students and second for 16 to 18 years old students. Humane Education Network has developed this program with the support of the Animal Welfare Institute and Palo Alto Humane Society. This contest is the result of the Humane Education Network’s partnership with these two organizations. Nowadays, people are getting more concerned about the welfare of animals and taking the initiative to reduce animal abuse, increase conservation and improving their lives. People from all walks of life are coming forward for supporting the animals and new zeal for such good work has been noticed particularly in the young generation. This content is a small contribution from Humane Education Network and its partners to increasing awareness of animal sufferings and their welfare.

Humane Education Network came into existence as the human livestock network in 1970 and was begun by Sylvia Bancroft and Ginny Shefchick. In starting, this network worked for alerting local constitution when legislators were voting on a California bill relating to animal welfare. During those starting days, it also worked with Palo Alto Humane Society and the Fund for Animals. The motive of this network is to raise awareness, especially amongst young people, regarding animal suffering throughout the world, whether it is domesticated animals, animals in the wild or animals raised for human consumption.
