Lehner Women Empowering Women $500 Scholarship

Empowering and supporting women out there has always been one of the most critical duties that anyone can do. There are lots of women who are unable, even in today’s modern time, to access quality education and build a successful career of their own. The monetary issue is not the only reason behind this condition of women in society. In some places, women don’t possess that level of freedom they require. In the back days, women have to fight for availing their right of gaining proper education like their counterparts. Ensuring that every woman is obtaining the right education has the tools they need to better their life is very important. And keeping this fact in mind, Dearborn Community Foundation has made available a program called “Lehner Women Empowering Women Scholarship”. This scholarship was named in the honor of Lisa DeHart Lehner, one of the DCF’s founders and sole attorney.

With the help of this program, the organization desires to help the non-traditional female student who has not had the opportunity to attend college or complete their post-secondary education started previously in life. For this scholarship, one winner will be selected and awarded $500 in amount. The award amount can be applied to tuition, books, and required fees. This scholarship mainly targets nontraditional female learns who had to leave their education in middle or never got a chance to pursue studies in their chosen field. Applicants of this program are required to write down an essay based on which judges will select the winner.

Dearborn Community Foundation in short DCF is a community foundation, tax-exempt public charity that provides individuals, families, businesses, and organizations needed tools so that they can fulfill their charitable wishes. Who is Eligible?

Please make sure you fulfill the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be a female resident of Dearborn County;
  • Candidates must have received an accredited high school diploma or a GED equivalent no later than October 13, 2021;
  • Aspirants must be currently enrolled or plan to enroll by August 1, 2022 in an accredited post-secondary educational institution or program;
  • Students must have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA);
  • Entrants must be a non-traditional female student who has not had the opportunity to attend college or complete their post-secondary education started previously in life.
