If you are a democracy-loving high school student interested in winning a $30,000 college scholarship or a patriotic middle school student interested in winning $5000, then here is the authentic opportunity for you. VFW is introducing its great Youth scholarships for an American university, college, or vocational/technical school.

The aim behind these amazing programs is to encourage and motivate youth to do better in their career. The VFW is dedicated to promoting patriotism and investing in the future generation. The company is aware of the burden and pressure on the students due do academic and financial burden to help students achieve their career goals VFW has initiated different scholarships. The program encourages the patriotic spirit of the students.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is a non-profit veterans service organization comprised of eligible veterans and military service members from the active, guard, and reserve forces Veterans of Foreign Wars missions to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. The vision is to ensure that veterans are respected for their service, always receive their earned entitlements, and are recognized for the sacrifices they are their loved ones have made.

Who May Be Eligible?

Eligibility requirements for both Voice Democracy and Patriots Pen scholarships are different. Here are some mandatory requirements

  • Students in grade 6th, 7th, 8th,9 to 12 enrolled by the October 31 deadline in public, parochial school, private, or home study program in the U.S., its territories, or its possessions.
  • Dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel in overseas schools are also eligible.

How to Apply

If you are eligible and interested in the programs, then you can apply by downloading an application form and filling it with all the required details and the supporting materials. All applications are expected to be received before the deadline to be considered for the program. Late applications will not be entertained. Applicants should make sure that the material they provide is original.

  • For the Voice of Democracy Scholarship

Fully completed application form and brochure

Record of their reading of the draft to an audio CD or flash drive. The recording can be no shorter than three minutes and no longer than five minutes

Original essay

  • For Patriot’s Pen

Complete application form and brochure

An essay of a minimum of 300 words and not more than 400 words should be submitted before the deadline.

Voice Of Democracy

The national first-place winner receives a $30,000 scholarship paid directly to the recipient institute. A complete list of other national scholarships range from $1000 to $16000, and the first-place winner from each VFW Department wins a minimum scholarship of $1000, and all the expense paid trip to Washington, D.C

Patriot’s Pen

Each first-place state winner receives a minimum of $500 at the national level, and the national; first-place winner wins $5000, and all expenses paid trip to Washington D.C
