TWRC Wildlife Center Paint the House Contest

Paint the House is an extremely fun contest being arranged by the Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition (TWRC), especially for kids that are going to be super exciting and creative. Amidst this pandemic and long time without school, children have been bound by a life full of boredom and very few activities to keep them active and engaged. They are now living in a world where meeting their friends and even stepping out of the house is prohibited just for the sake of their safety. During these tough times, it is very important to take a special look at their mental health and provide them with fun activities at home that will keep them happy and engaged and also encourage that creative spirit in them.

Since the Summer holidays were the much-awaited holidays for children when life was normal, TWRC has thought about rejuvenating that spirit and arranged a fun summer contest of “painting birdhouses.” This contest will be a great opportunity for children to get creative and express their artistic abilities while at the same time supporting the TWRC Wildlife Center. Children above the age of 5 are welcome to participate in this contest.

By participating in this contest, children will help increase the supply of hand-crafted birds, squirrels, and owl houses that will eventually help TWRC Wildlife Center distribute them to people or rescuers who need them. These attractive birdhouses are sometimes also purchased by many individuals who would love to hang them into their gardens to provide shelter for squirrels and songbirds. The contest has three divisions of age groups, Individual Child (5-11 years), Individual Youth (12 – 17 years), and Individual Adult (18+), and the top 3 birdhouses from each division will be awarded exciting prizes. Children can register between July 5th to 24th and need to pay $20 as Registration Fees. If someone wishes to carry their birdhouses back home, then they are required to pay an extra charge of $10. Participants are required to bring art materials such as paints and brushes and are required to follow some rules. The winners will be chosen with the help of votes, and the names will be announced on the 18th of August.
