Who May Be Eligible

Eligibility criteria for the Stokes County Arts Council Scholarship are as follows:

  • Applicants must be from Stokes County residents graduating from either one of the Stokes County high schools or an accredited home school planning to major and pursue a career in an arts-related field.
  • An institution of higher learning must have accepted candidates. The scholarship review team must approve of this institution.
  • Students attending an institution of higher learning with the same career goals may also apply. Minors in arts-related fields are not eligible for the scholarship.
  • A student has to represent Stokes County through community involvement in any volunteering at community events and programs.
  • Applicants must have financial needs to be eligible for the scholarship.
  • An immediate relative of an applicant cannot serve on the scholarship review team.

How to Apply 

Students can submit their application for the Stokes County Arts Council Scholarship offline. Complete applications must submit to the following address:

Applicants must print and fill the application form with a black ink pen and attach all the documentation requested. Incomplete applications will not be considered for the Stokes County Arts Council Scholarship. Students must follow deadlines strictly.

Supporting Documents 

  • Applicants should submit a copy of the high school transcript with the application.
  • Three letters of reference must be attached with the application. One letter should be included from an educator who has taught the applicant in a field of interest. All recommendation letters should be on letterhead and in a sealed envelope. Recommendation letters submitted online or through email will not be considered for the scholarship.
  • At least three representative samples of students work. This may be in original work, clear photographs, video, CD, and audiotape, etc.
  • Individuals must submit a brief statement of approximately 250-500 words. This statement must explain how the arts have impacted the applicant’s life.
  • Selected students will have an interview with the committee.
