College is an enthralling experience in one’s life, full of new adventures, expertise, and connections. Students who are battling or have overcome cancer deserve help in their pursuit of a college degree. Childhood cancer survivors overcome insurmountable difficulties to combat their disease and regain their health. However, a cancer diagnosis can put a family’s finances in jeopardy. Several funds have been introduced to encourage families to pay for their child’s college education following a childhood cancer diagnosis.
Many scholarship sponsors recognize the commitment of ambitious students who attend college despite medical challenges. To support childhood cancer patients and survivors in pursuing their education, the Friends of Scott Foundation has created the Scott Delgadillo College Scholarship for cancer patients or cancer survivors. This scholarship will be offered to aspirants based on financial their needs and personal suffering.
The recipient will be chosen by the Scott Delgadillo College Scholarship Committee. Scott, who died because of childhood cancer placed a high value on education. In his honor, FOS provides financial support to people who have been diagnosed with childhood cancer and want to continue their education. FOS recognizes the impact that cancer may have on a person’s ability to pursue higher education, FOS set up an objective to help them get started by offering financial support.
