Road Safety Art Contest for Kindergarten to 12 Grade Students

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) presented the 2021 Road Safety Art Contest for K-12 students within the United States. This annually conducted competition’s primary goal is to promote expressions of creativity and talent within school students. FMCSA wants to raise awareness of road safety around large trucks and buses. So, this year they have revolved their categories around large trucks and buses at the FMCSA Kid Zone and Teen Zone. The winner will be chosen from the artwork that best depicts how all road users, including vehicles, can stay safe near large trucks and buses. The best artwork will have original and unique creativity that shows how to stay aware of the large vehicles’ blind spots, long stopping distance, and wide turns.

Contests for Artwork submissions are nothing new, as competitions like these have been conducted worldwide for a long time. Each participant is given a chance to express their creativity, originality, and uniqueness through photos, hand-drawn art, handmade arts and crafts, video, digital art, etc.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), established on January 1, 2000, is an administrative department within the Department of Transportation. FMCSA was formerly a part of the Federal Highway Administration, and now their primary mission is to prevent vehicle-related deaths and injuries. Their activities involve ensuring safety in motor carrier operations by vigorous enforcement of safety regulations. They also target high-risk carriers and commercial motor vehicle drivers so that pedestrians and other vehicle users can travel safely on and off roads. They constantly improve commercial motor vehicle technologies and safety information systems. To accomplish the values, objectives, and goals that the FMCSA set for themselves, they work with State, Federal, and local enforcement agencies along with the labour and safety interest groups, motor carrier industry, and others.
