River Clicks Photo Contest

Summer has arrived, and the temperature is getting warmer with each passing day; and at this time of the year, the beauty of the San Antonio River Basin is at its peak. Blooming flowers and plants, pollinating pollinators and wildlife that migrates to this part of the country in this season enhances the charm of the San Antonio River Basin and make it more eye-catching. To give photographers the chance to witness the beauty of the San Antonio River Basin and capture it in the cameras, the San Antonio River Authority has organized River Clicks Photo Contest. This is an annual competition held by the San Antonio River Authority each year, and this year’s contest is the fourth edition. This program is open for everyone in the community of all photographic skill levels except those associated with the San Antonio River Foundation as employees, workers, members and interns.

This year the contest has been divided into seven categories which are: Creeks & Rivers, Recreation, Animals, Plants & Insects, Seasonal Variation, Student and Special Category – Helton Nature Park ( which is a new and special category). The winners of each category will get wonderful perks. Along with the prize, they will get a chance to polish their photography skills, enjoy the San Antonio River Basin’s natural treasures and recognization for their photography talent. No matter you are a professional or just a novice, you can be a part of this program and show your talent to the world. Go ahead! Grab your camera and take some beautiful shots of the San Antonio River Basin and share them with the San Antonio River Authority to win excellent perks!

San Antonio River Authority was formed in 1937 and is currently working as one of the active river authorities out there in Texas. It serves primarily Bexar, Wilson, Karnes and Goliad Counties. It is operated by a 12-member Board of Directors. The authority came into existence when the Texas voters felt the necessity of conserving and developing the water resources of the state and passed a constitutional amendment that allowed the legislature to create special-purpose political subdivisions of the State to serve regional areas.

Who May Be Eligible?

This competition is available to everyone in the community of all photographic skill levels. Individuals affiliated with the San Antonio River Authority or the San Antonio River Foundation, including employees, Board members, or interns, are not eligible for any prize.

How to Apply

There are seven categories for this competition, and to compete for one of these categories, a photograph must have been taken by the entrant within Bexar, Wilson, Karnes, or Goliad County. Applicants can send their entry through the online portal of the San Antonio River Authority.

Each category has different perks. So the benefits that you might get as a winner depends on the category you apply for. Besides this, you will get a chance to compete with others, gain experience of participating in competitions and enhance your skills. You will be given recognization along with rewards for your photography talent.
