Pines and Plains Libraries Literacy and Art Contest

Pines&Plains libraries present to you a literary and art “Find your Canvas” contest. The following contest is for students who have an enormous love for art and literacy. There are many different categories and age groups are given in which you can participate and showcase your talent as per your interests. The application submission for the contest has started on August 9, 2021, and will end on August 31, 2021. The applications will be reviewed and judged from September 1-4 and the winners will be announced on September 6, 2021, and be presented at Simla days. Also, winners will have to collect their prizes in person from the Simla Library Branch located at 504 Washington Ave in Simla, CO.

The artwork and written submissions of the winners will be displayed at the Library Bhooth on Simla Days. As for eligibility, all judges and employees of Pines &Plains libraries are ineligible to apply. Artwork or written work published in previous newspapers, magazines, books are ineligible. Make sure your work is 100% original. Additionally, once submitted your work, you grant the right to PP library to post your work on the library’s website.

Who is Eligible?

There are no restrictions concerning the eligibility of the following contest. Individuals from all backgrounds are eligible to apply.

Participants can apply according to the category they fall in:

  • Art adult entry (18+)
  • Art youth entry (0-17)
  • Adult short story (18+)
  • Youth short story (0-17)
  • Poetry (all ages)

Judges and employees of pines and plains libraries are not eligible to apply.

How to Apply?

To participate in the following contest, the interested individuals must submit their artworks or literary works as per the categories mentioned above. All the submissions concerning artwork are to be made in person at 504 Washington Ave., Simla CO 808835. In case of literary, the submissions will be made through email to jrichardson@pplibraries.org.

All the submissions must include the following:

  • Author/artist name
  • Phone number
  • Date of birth
  • Entry category
  • Title of the entry

The winners will be announced on September 6, 2021, and be awarded the following prizes:

  • Art contest general:

Grand champion- Artists Bundle approx. $65 value – Embossing Toolset, light pad, artist’s pencil grinder, and more.

  • Adult art contest:
  • 1st place winner- $50 visa gift card plus pines & plains swag and placement ribbon
  • 2nd place winner- $25 visa gift card and placement ribbon
  • 3rd place winner- $15 visa gift card and placement ribbon
  • Youth/teen art contest:
  • 1st place winner- $35 visa gift card and placement ribbon
  • 2nd place winner- $20 visa gift card and placement ribbon
  • 3rd place winner- $10 visa gift card and placement ribbon
  • Library categories
  • Adult short story: $50 visa gift card and placement ribbon
  • Youth/teen short story: $50 visa gift card and placement ribbon

The last date for artwork submission for the following contest is August 31, 2021. No submissions will be considered after the deadline.
