Patriotic Essay Writing Competition

Are you a student interested in essay writing? If yes, then you have good news. The Veterans of Foreign Wars is organizing a four-level Patriotic Essay Writing Competition. The competition is open to the 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students enrolled in public, private or parochial schools in the U.S., its territories, or its possessions or are home-schooled.

The determination behind arranging the Patriotic Essay Writing Competition is to raise awareness about Patriotism. The Patriot’s Pen encourages students to have imperative information about their very own country. The essay competition offers students an opportunity to write essays on an annual patriotic theme that convey their opinions.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is a non-profit community group of veterans composed of qualifying veterans from the active, guard, and reserve forces and former service members. Their mission is to encourage camaraderie among veterans of overseas conflicts in the United States; to represent our veterans, the military, and our communities; and to speak on behalf of all veterans.

Who May be Eligible?

The applicants interested in applying for a John Lennon Scholarship must comply with the eligibility criteria-

  • Applicants must be 6th-, 7th- and 8th-grade students enrolled in public, private or parochial schools in the U.S., its territories, or its possessions. Home-schooled students also are eligible.
  • The applicants must be permanent residents of the United States.

How to Apply?

The application process is very easy. The applicants keen to apply should fill an entry form from the Patriot’s Pen. The applicant can also ask a teacher or youth group/club adult leader to supervise the Patriot’s Pen writing competition. Contact a local VFW Post within their local area within their state and indicate their interest in participating. Established a contact person who is a member of or an auxiliary of that VFW Post. Before the contest deadline, ensure that your essay is sent to the VFW Post. Upon the Post’s approval, you can apply your essay and entry form electronically (by email).

Rules

  • Applicants must write a 300-400 words essay on the topic, “What is Patriotism to me?”
  • The essay must be typed in English with no colour or graphics.

Benefits

The winner of the Patriotic Essay Writing Competition will be awarded $5000. The beneficiary can utilize this amount to pay for the educational needs like books, room, and other verified needs. This will help students to overcome financial barriers. It motivates students to work hard and achieve their goals.

Application Deadline

Entrants should apply for the scholarship and submit all the materials required before the deadline to be considered. The deadline for the Patriotic Essay Writing Competition is October 31, 2021. No request beyond the deadline will be approved.
