Pasadena Water and Power would like to offer very beneficial Educational Scholarships for the academic year of 2020-2021. The organization offers up to two scholarships to talented and aspiring students each year. These educational scholarships carry a goal of helping students overcome the financial obstacles that are preventing them from furthering their education. These scholarships are reserved for students who are currently seniors at a high school in the city of Pasadena and planning to be enrolled as full-time students in a two or four-year accredited post-secondary institution in the upcoming 2021-2022 academic year.
Through these scholarships, the organization wants to ensure that no student has to limit their education or drop out due to a lack of their household income. These funds will work as a morale booster for students and motivate them to give their best during their studies. Accessing higher education can be difficult for students who are from a poorer background. These scholarships will prove a great help for such students. These programs will support Pasadena’s students with their education that will result in more future leaders in the city of Pasadena. These will find the top talents in the city and assist them to become what they want to be.
Pasadena Water and Power are a nonprofit organization owned and operated by the City of Pasadena. The priority of this organization is to serve its customers and residents. It has been providing reliable and affordable services to its customer. This community enterprise has always been dedicated to improving the health, economy, and quality of life in the city of Pasadena. It provides electricity to over 65,000 customers, and water to almost 38,000 households and businesses in Pasadena.

Applicants are required to meet the given eligibility criteria:
- Entrants should be current seniors at a high school in the city of Pasadena;
- Aspirants must be residents within the Pasadena Water and Power service territory;
- Applicants should be planning to enrol as full-time students in a two or four-year accredited post-secondary institution in the upcoming 2021-2022 academic year.

Candidates need to complete an application form and write an essay. Both the application and essay must be saved as Last Name (entrant), First Name (entrant), and PWP Scholarship Application. Supporting Documents
As supporting documents, applicants will need to provide an essay that must be written within 300 to 500 words on the following topics:
- Why is reliable water and power more important amid a pandemic?
- What role should the utility take to be an added support to its customers during a public health crisis like COVID-19?
- What challenges do you think a utility faces during an emergency like COVID-19? Be creative and examine this from a customer’s standpoint; what are the expectations to provide service, for rates, customer care, etc.
Benefits
The foundation will select two winners. The first-place winner will get a $5,000 scholarship and the second will receive a scholarship worth $2,500. These awards will help them pursue their education and achieve their educational goals.
