Belonging to the LGBT community is not as easy as it sounds. The difficulties don’t come from being a part of that community but the inequality, behaviour of others and stereotypes give rise to them. Needless to say, LGBT students have to face many hurdles in every step of their lives from education to career. Despite being talented and having potential and abilities, most LGBT students are judged and undervalued based on their community tag. They don’t get equal opportunities and fair chances they deserve, and stay deprived of qualified education and fulfilling their dreams. Keeping this in mind, Out to Protect has brought an amazing scholarship for them with the motive of landing a helping hand for such students. Eligible candidates must be currently enrolled in a basic law enforcement training program in the United States.
Out To Protect Scholarship will be awarded in June 2021. All candidates are required to exhibit being a visible, positive role model for law enforcement and being able to graduate from a law enforcement training program. This scholarship seems to be a wonderful support for needy LGBT students who are aiming to establish a successful career in the field of law. The contribution of LGBY people in the field of law has been undervalued and did not get the recognization it belongs to. There are very few individuals from the LGBT community who have been working in this field around the world. Since most of them even are not offered the chance to showcase talent in a field like legal. In such a scenario, Out To Protect wants to promote and encourage the participation of such students in this field through its scholarship program.
Out To Protect is a tax-exempt organization with the mission of providing 90% or more of every donated dollar in the form of scholarships for LGBT students desiring to attend a law enforcement academy in the United States. It also provides back to educational programs and projects that enhance the awareness and success of gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, and transgender law enforcement professionals. The purpose of the organization is to improve the condition of the LGBT people and inspire and support them to serve in the law enforcement field.

Who May Be Eligible?
- Applicants must identify as gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, or transgender.
- Aspirants must be currently enrolled in a basic law enforcement training program in the United States (sponsored or self-sponsored in a law enforcement academy, corrections academy, or 9-1-1 dispatcher academy).
- Candidates should demonstrate being a visible, positive role model for law enforcement
- Individual must demonstrate being able to graduate from a law enforcement training program.

Applicants must provide a recommendation at the time of application from fellow students and academy staff. Letters should be submitted on academy letterhead and speak specifically to the scholarship criteria. Benefits
Scholarship awards range from $500 to $1000. Candidates can use this amount to cover their educational expenses and move their learning journey, that got stuck due to lack of money, forward. This will give students a leg up on their peers and take away their financial concerns.
