NSPE Maureen L. & Howard N. Blitman, P.E., Scholarship

National Society of Professional Engineers is welcoming candidates to apply for their valuable Maureen L. & Howard N. Blitman, P.E., Scholarship to promote diversity in engineering. The Maureen L. and Howard N. Blitman, P.E., Scholarship is awarded annually to high school seniors from an ethnic minority who have been accepted into an ABET-accredited engineering program at a four-year college or university. Candidates should be United States citizens to be eligible.

This program aims to promote diversity in engineering, as per the increasing numbers of engineers every year; it is necessary to ensure that these students get enough support to reduce their financial load. The programs are initiated to support candidates with the help of funds. The purpose of these programs is to enhance and grow the field of engineering with exceptional professionals who are highly passionate about engineering. This program supports underrepresented minority students.

The goal of NSPE or National Society of Professional Engineers is to impact at all levels of the organization, increase public recognition of the value of competent and ethical engineering, and increase membership and participation across all programs engaging more people and engaging them more fully. It aims to maximize synergy or value created anywhere in the system benefits everyone in the system. And provide financial sustainability for national, state societies, and NICET certifications.

Who May Be Eligible?

Follow the below-given eligibility requirements to check if you are eligible:

  • The applicant must be a high school senior who is a member of an underrepresented ethnic minority in engineering: African-American, Hispanic, or Native American.
  • The fellow should be accepted into an ABET-accredited engineering program at a four-year college or university.
  • The participant should be a U.S. citizen.

How to Apply

Eligible and interested students should apply for the scholarship by downloading an application form. All the required details should be provided in the application. All supporting materials and the application should be submitted to students@nspe.org. The organization will not accept late or incomplete information. Official Transcripts should be mailed to The Maureen L. & Howard N. Blitman, P.E., scholarship 1420 King St. Alexandria, VA 22314.

Supporting Documents

Applicants are requested to provide the following documents:

  • A complete transcript of the high school grades is required.
  • SAT and/or ACT scores should be submitted.
  • A resume or summary of internship/co-op experience(s) and involvement in other activities
  • Recommendation letters from two faculty members who have taught the
  • The applicant is mandatory.

Benefits

The scholarship will be awarded in two disbursements of $2,500 each at the beginning of the freshman year’s fall and spring semesters. The award will be credited to the student’s account through the school’s office of financial aid. This scholarship genuinely promotes diversity in engineering and supports the candidates to do better in their studies.
