Nokia Bell Labs announced awards and prizes for the best innovative proposals that can solve broader societal and humanistic challenges. Each year, the Nokia Bell Labs receive game-changing innovations in fields like science, technology, mathematics and engineering. This competition is a step towards finding the greatest challenges in the information and telecommunications industry. Three winners are chosen from the various proposals received from all around the world, and they can work alongside the researchers at Nokia Bell Labs to further explore their ideas. The first place receives $100,000, the second place receives $50,000, and the third place receives $25,000, which will be paid directly to the winners. During the final stage before the selection of three winners, Nokia Bell Labs Research Partners are assigned to each of the five to seven finalists who were selected to present in front of a panel of renowned industry leaders and experts so that they can further strengthen their proposals to their maximum potential.
Scholarships are prestigious awards given to a student who has demonstrated academic achievements during their high school, college and/or university courses or programs. These scholarships benefit the students who are from poorer family background and are unable to afford the desired college or university. These scholarships are especially useful to international students because of the difference between domestic and international students’ tuition.

Who May Be Eligible?
Meeting the following requirement is mandatory:
- Have own, unique, original and unpublished ideas
- Must be twenty-one years old or older at the time of registration
- Should have a bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree
- Not an employee or a family member of a current employee of Nokia
- Must be a resident from one of the participating countries
How to Apply
The main idea of this competition is to register and submit proposals in the areas of information and communication technologies. Eligible candidates can form a team of up to four members and submit an idea in 250 words or less. Candidates are encouraged to attach additional documentation to support their proposals. Five to seven finalists are selected from the hundreds of applications, and they compete in November at an autumn event every year in front of industry leaders and renowned experts.

The competitions open on March 10, 2021, and ends on May 14, 2021. The finalists will be announced on June 21, 2021, and they will participate in virtual innovation on June 30, 2021. Winners will be announced on November 17, 2021.
