Nelligan Prize for Short Fiction

Nowadays, writing seems to be a booming field giving strong competition to others. Students are more interested in pursuing a writing career than ever. The reasons behind the increasing popularity of this career field are the myriad of opportunities available in this area, wide scope, good income and less competition and work stress. It is a creative field witnessing new leaders who are providing readers with their best creations. Keeping this in mind, the Center for Literary Publishing is now sponsoring an outstanding program called “Nelligan Prize for Short Fiction”. This prize is granted annually to the author of an amazing short story. So if you want to give a motivational push to your inner writer, and make some money, then Nelligan Prize for Short Fiction is the right platform for you to start from.

Nelligan Prize for Short Fiction was started in 2004 in honour of the memory of Liza Nelligan, a writer, editor, and friend of many in Colorado State University’s English Department. She acquired a degree in literature from Colorado State University in 1992. By honouring young writers and helping them through this program, the Center for Literary Publishing wants to honour Nelligan’s life, her passion for writing, and her love of fiction. All stories will be considered for publication and be featured in the fall/winter issue of Colorado Review. This prize is 2k in amount. The best part is that no theme is decided for this year’s story contest. No restriction on the topic of the story, so you can write on the topic you like. The story must be ten pages in length but not more than 50 pages. You can send your submission to the Center for Literary Publishing by the deadline.

Center for Literary Publishing has been dedicated to partnering with the writers to bring exceptionally written and published fiction, poetry, and nonfiction to readers via various platforms, including notably, Colorado Review and CLP books. CLP also train and cultivate publishing professionals of tomorrow, and welcome graduate student interns to participate in every aspect of the publication process.
