The intention of these programs is to encourage young singers and help them fulfil their dreams. Each program has a different award amount, requirements and application deadline. National Association of Teachers of Singing came into existence in 1944 as the largest professional association of teachers of singing in the world. It has more than 7,000 members in the United States, Canada, and more than 35 other countries. The mission of this organization is to advance excellence in singing through teaching, performance, scholarship, and research.

Benefits

NATS Artist Awards

  • Over $50,000 in cash and other prizes! The winner is awarded more than $13,000 in cash and prizes; the runner-up is awarded more than $6,000 in cash and prizes. Various other prizes and awards are given to participants in the competition.

National Musical Theatre Competition

  • The winner is granted more than $5,000 in prizes in addition to a concert at the next NATS National Conference; second prize winners will get more than $2,500; third prize is $1,000.

National Student Auditions

  • Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will total at least $35,000.

Art Song Composition Award

  • The winner is awarded $2,000 plus expenses to the NATS 57th National Conference in Chicago, July 2-6, 2022; the runner-up is awarded $1,000.
