Midpeninsula Regional Open Space’s 12th Annual Photo Contest

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space has announced the 12th Annual Photo Contest. All individuals, despite age, geography, and any other demography are eligible to participate. This year’s 2021 competition has been kindly sponsored by Open Space. Applications are now open for this exciting competition attracting talents from across the world. So, if you are a photographer who loves to take beautiful pictures of flora and fauna, then this opportunity is the right fit for you.

The “12th Annual Photo Contest” is an initiative of the Midpen to encourage more and more people to work towards conserving our wildlife. Wildlife conservation is critical in order to conserve vulnerable plant and animal populations as well as their natural habitats. The primary priority is to protect ecosystems so that future generations of animals, as well as humans, will benefit from them.

By maintaining a linked greenbelt of more than 65,000 acres of public open space, Midpen lets plants, animals, and people flourish in the greater Santa Cruz Mountains area. From bay wetlands to redwood forests and coastal grasslands, these rich and beautiful ecosystems support an unparalleled variety of organisms, making our area one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots. Prior to being a public open space, the Midpen preserves had a long and complicated history of human use. They vigorously conserve the soil and rivers to restore their health and work, assisting the local community in becoming more climate-resilient. Through taking care of the land, which provides us with tangible and intangible advantages such as clean air and water, flood prevention, and the ability to have restorative moments with nature.
