To assist students of colour in overcoming their financial problems and becoming what they want to be, the California Teachers Association is now seeking applications for its Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Scholarship. This funding opportunity motivates minority students to become educators, school nurses, school counsellors or school therapists. Through this program, CTA also aims to promote professional growth for ethnic minority teachers and ESP members of colour. This program welcomes those applicants pursuing a degree, credential or certification in public education in an accredited institution in the United States.
This scholarship is designed only for students who belong to the following minority groups: African American/Black, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian/Pacific Islander or Hispanic. California Teachers Association understands the need of ethnic minority educators in California and is also extremely aware of the financial challenges minority students face in acquiring education. That is the reason why it has developed this amazing funding scheme which will provide financial backing to needy students to lessen their burden of study cost.
California Teachers Association has been dedicated to improving the teaching and learning condition for all in California. It has been working as a unified voice for educators in California’s public schools and community college. With 310,000 members, it has been playing the role of advocate for students and public educators.

Who May Be Eligible
If you meet the following requirements, then you will be eligible for this program:
- Applicants must be pursuing a degree, credential or certification for a teaching-related career in public education in an accredited institution of higher education;
- Candidates should be a member of one of the following defined ethnic minority groups: African American/Black, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian/Pacific Islander or Hispanic;
- Aspirants must be enrolled for the summer or fall semester of 2021.

Benefits
This scholarship has been made possible through voluntary contributions from the CTA membership and the CTA Foundation for Teaching and Learning. The award amount will be varied depending on the contributed amount and financial need of applicants. Candidates, who have not previously received this award will be eligible for priority consideration.
