LWV Wilton Student Essay Contest for Grades 3-5 Students

League of Women Voters of Wilton has collaborated with the Wilton Historical Society, the American Legion, and GOOD Morning Wilton to make an excellent student essay contest for 2021. This year, the theme of the essay has been chosen in the honor of an event which is the election of our nation’s first woman as Vice President of the United States. The program is celebrating the one-hundredth anniversary of women achieving the right to vote, which is considered to be an achievement in which several of Wilton’s luminaries played vital roles. Apart from this, this program has also been initiated to celebrate Vice President Harris’ other “firsts”, the first woman, the first person of colour, and the first Asian-American to hold the role. All students in grades 3-5 attending public and private schools in Wilton will be selected as participants of this program.

To compete in this program, all aspirants need to write down a fantastic essay of a minimum of 50 or no more than 250 words describing their stories and sharing advice and wishes to Dear Madame Vice President. The entries will be judged and selected based on the quality of content, creativity, grammar and structure by a panel. Moreover, the winning letter will also be considered for publication by GOOD Morning Wilton. For this contest, candidates will be chosen for first and second place and as honourable mention winners. They will be honoured and receive their awards at the Wilton League of Women Voters closing meeting in June. So grab a pen and paper and compose an excellent letter and send it to LWV Wilton to win a prize.
