The CarolinaEast Foundation is pleased to announce The Joseph Hageman Memorial Nursing Scholarships for the students pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, an Associate’s Degree in Nursing, enrolled in the LPN to ADN Transition Program leading to licensure as a Registered Nurse or the Practical Nursing program leading to licensure as an LPN. The CarolinaEast Foundation aims to provide financial support to the students of their community. To avail of this scholarship, applicants must be from Craven, Carteret, Jones, Onslow or Pamlico counties. Financial need is not taken into consideration while offering these scholarships.
The Joseph Hageman Memorial Scholarship was initiated to support students who wish to make their career in nursing. The recipients of this scholarship can forget about their financial issues as the amount of scholarship will help them with their expenditure.
The scholarship amount will help students with their educational expenditure and thus reduce their financial burden. Students can focus solely on their education and strive towards success. CarolinaEast Foundation has been serving New Bern and the Coastal Carolina region for more than 55 years. This health system takes efforts to provide excellent services to its community. They aim to assist individuals with healthcare needs. They intend to provide financial support to the CarolinaEast Health System and other local nonprofit programs that meet healthcare needs in their region.

Who May Be Eligible
- Applicants should be from Craven, Carteret, Jones, Onslow or Pamlico counties to be eligible for the scholarships.
- Candidates must be enrolled as full-time student in an accredited college or university or accepted in a North Carolina Board of Nursing approved program.
How to Apply
The Hageman Nursing Scholarship applications are now open! Interested fellows can apply for the scholarship online. Fellows must submit all the mandatory documents and materials without any negligence. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered for the scholarship. Please follow the deadlines strictly.
Supporting Documents
- Applicants must submit a Purpose Statement of 250-500 words. This statement should explore why the they are choosing Nursing as a career, any extenuating circumstances the committee must consider in its evaluation of his/her application, and why he/she would make an excellent Hageman Scholar.
- Students must provide the CarolinaEast Foundation with two personal or work references and one academic reference.

Each program has various benefits. Scholarship rewards must be used to pay student’s tuition, books, fees, professional equipment, materials and other expenses for enrollment in or costs associated with his/her nursing education. These scholarships encourage students to achieve success in their careers by focusing on their academics.
