This Hawaii Education Association scholarship Fund aims to support the educational endeavors of HEA. They are here to support students interested in teaching and want to take it as a career option, along with students who support pre-service and in-service educators.
HEA was founded in 1921 to represent the educational community. The statehood brought the importance of HEA to the forefront, becoming the “voice of educators” by representing all educators’ welfare at the Legislature. In 1970-71, HEA was instrumental in establishing three educational collective bargaining units that are still present. HEA continues to support its vision of proclaiming the professionalism of Hawaii’s educators. In 1994, HEA acquired status to continue its support for excellence in education. Throughout HEA’s history, loyal and committed members who are interested in taking the initiative and have provided supported the organization through generous annual donations to support Teaching As A Career, scholarships for pre-service education and active teachers, and Excellence in Teaching and Learning initiatives.
