Graduate Diversity Fellowship

The University of Massachusetts Amherst is offering its enormous Graduate Diversity Fellowship for students from historically underrepresented groups in the history of art and architecture. The purpose of the fellowship is to support an M.A. candidate who seeks to pursue an academic or professional career in art history but faces significant historical or economic barriers to graduate study further.

This Diversity Fellowship comes with a 20-hour/week position as a teaching assistant during the academic year for two years to complete the program. In the program, you’ll take courses about a diverse range of cultures, learning about them in intimate graduate seminars.

The University of Massachusetts Amherst is known as public research and land-grant university in Amherst, Massachusetts. It is the flagship campus of the University of Massachusetts system. UMass Amherst has an annual enrollment of approximately 1,300 faculty members and more than 30,000 students. The university works to offers academic degrees in 109 undergraduate, 77 masters and 48 doctoral programs. It is also a member of the Five College Consortium.

Benefits

This fellowship provides fellows with full tuition credit, 95% of health insurance costs, and an annual stipend of at least $20,000. For most students, this stipend is sufficient to cover local living expenses, including room and board during the academic year. The committee will provide the fellow with mentoring and academic and professional support throughout their time in the program.
