The Fresno County Public Library Poetry Contest is dedicated to the poet named Lou Standifer. Fresno County Public Library hopes that his strong voice, his strong writing, and his strong story will inspire all. The deadline for the 22 Annual Poetry Contest is extended to May 21, 2021. This contest is a celebration of the 22Â anniversary of a local tradition and happens from April 1 to May 21. The poems are judged by talented local professionals, and during these COVID-19 concerns, entries and the announcement of winners will be entirely online. There will not be any in-person awards ceremony. The winning poems are announced on June 18, 2021. There are four categories as follows: 3rd-6th Grade, 7th-8th Grade, 9th-12th Grade, and Adult (18 and up). Three winners in each category will receive a gift card, which is generously donated by the Friends of the Fresno County Public Library. The first place receives $100, the second place receives $50, and the third-place receives $25.
The poetry contest is one of the well-participated creative contests where anyone can participate to improve their language and writing skills. Moreover, poems are recyclable, and if you do not win a contest, you could submit the same poems in the next contest. Also, the monetary prizes won in these contests can be invested back in yourself to improve poetry writing.
