Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance with the help of members of the Finger Lakes business community is now launching an outstanding scholarship program. The intention of the organization behind offering this scholarship is to increase the participation of students in the field of tourism and hospitality and develop the new leaders in these amazing fields. This funding promise will benefit to all students enrolled in their second year studying tourism and hospitality and live in the Finger Lakes region.
Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance understands the need for new and dedicated leaders within the tourism and hospitality industry and that is why it is providing this wonderful scholarship that will encourage talented students who are studying in these fields by supporting their education. This scholarship will provide monetary support to students studying at the undergraduate level at an accredited college and university within the region. The primary motive of this program is to promote tourism and hospitality education among students. The scholarship will also help students complete their education in these fields and graduate with less student debt. Overall, it will prove a great investment in the future of students who hold the potential to work on leadership roles within the hospitality and tourism industry.
Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance is known as one of the longest standing destination marketing organizations in the United States. It came into existence in 1919 and is working as an association of private-sector attractions, tourism-related businesses, and county tourism offices. It has been enhancing and promoting visitor businesses for the 9,000 square-mile Finger Lakes region of New York State. The organization is working toward its vision of becoming the recognized leader for destination marketing strategies and resources in the Finger Lakes region.

Who May Be Eligible?
Participants of this scholarship are required to meet these requirements given below:
- Applicants must be residents of the 14 County Finger Lakes Tourism Region (Cayuga, Chemung, Cortland, Livingston, Monroe, Onondaga, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne, and Yates counties);
- Candidates should be studying Tourism and Hospitality and are 2nd year and beyond students;
- Entrants must hold work history, preferably in the hospitality or tourism industry.
How to Apply
Aspirants should complete an application form and emailed it along with all required supporting materials to CindyK@fingerlakes.org. They are advised to provide all the correct information in the application as incomplete or invalid details can lead to disqualification.
Supporting Documents
Providing the following documents are necessary:
- Endorsement letter from an employer detailing your dates of employment and highlighting your performance as well as the type of work performed
- At least two additional letters of reference or recommendation from a current professor.
- A 400-word or less statement which includes:
- Applicant’s area of tourism and academic interest,
- Outline of financial need,
- Outline of how the scholarship will advance the applicant’s career and benefit the hospitality and tourism industry in the Finger Lakes region
Benefits
Through this scholarship, candidates can get the educational fund. This fund will be a contribution to students’ study costs. It will help them complete their education debts free. Students can use this fund to pay for their expenses.
