Students who are graduates of Salem High School are cordially invited to apply for the Dean Hansell Training Scholarship. The program is arranged by the Sustainable Opportunity Development Center for the year 2020.
The awards are meant to support the students accepted into an accredited vocational, technical or credential program. The recipients will be provided with funds to accomplish their various courses and programs.
Sustainable Opportunity Development Center has been a part of economic development in the Salem, Ohio area for several years. Its mission is to support business attraction, expansion, entrepreneurship, infrastructure, quality of life.
Who May Eligible?
To eligible, the students must review the given eligibility guidelines:
- Must be a graduate of Salem High School.
- Are currently unemployed or at risk.
- Wish to remain in the Salem, Ohio Area.
- Must demonstrate a financial need.
- Must have been accepted into an accredited vocational, technical or credential program
- Eligible fields of study include, but are not limited to, advanced manufacturing, automotive technology, computer technology, construction, cosmetology, culinary arts, electrical, HVAC, health care, industrial maintenance, machining, plumbing, or welding.

Benefits
The winner will get to receive awards up to $2500. The selected candidate may also attend a vocational school, trade school, technical school, certification training program, or credential program.
Application Deadline
The application deadline for fall is June 30, 2020, and for spring is November 1, 2021.
