Cullinan Park Conservancy Photo Contest

The Cullinan Park Conservancy is organizing its 2021 conservancy photo contest, and both amateur and professional photographers can be part of this alluring contest. This photo contest aims to raise public awareness of Joseph S. and Lucie H. Cullinan Park. Cullinan Park Conservancy is searching for outstanding digital photos of nature that showcase the park’s richness, beauty, and diversity. All photographs must be shot within the park’s borders. Please note that Hodge’s Bend Cemetery is not part of the park. The photographs don’t need to be taken this year or within the entry period. There is a special youth category for anyone 18 years of age and under to encourage young photographers to enter. If you are under the age of 18, your parents may submit submissions on your behalf. Entrants under the age of 18 must mention their age in their entry.    

All award winners will be acknowledged on the conservancy’s digital platforms and may be included in press releases. Cullinan Park Conservancy will offer several awards. If an entry wins more than one award, they will get the reward with the highest monetary value. Your photographs will contribute to the Cullinan Park Conservancy’s efforts to preserve the park’s incredible diversity of wildlife, people, plants, and ecosystems. You can also keep all rights to any photographs you upload, including ownership if applicable.

The Cullinan Park Conservancy is a non-profit organization tasked with promoting, improving, and protecting the Joseph S and Lucie H Cullinan Park near Oyster Creek for the use and enjoyment of both wildlife and human visitors. Cullinan Park, located near Sugar Land, is one of the Houston area’s major nature parks. The Cullinan Park Conservancy, being a non-profit organization, relies on the efforts of volunteers to preserve and sustain the park.

Who is Eligible?

You must meet the following requirements to apply for this 2021 Cullinan Park Conservancy Photo Contest:

  1. Any professional or amateur photographer of any age who has electronically submitted a full registration email and images to Cullinan Park Conservancy is eligible.
  2. The contest is open to all contestants, regardless of location or citizenship, as long as their local laws permit participation.
  3. Cullinan Park Conservancy board members and workers are not eligible to participate.
  4. The contest will be held under the following five categories:
  5. Birds
  6. Wildlife: all wildlife other than birds, such as reptiles, amphibians, mammals, butterflies, etc.
  7. Landscape: a sense of place, with or without people
  8. Flora: trees, flowers, plants
  9. Photographer’s Choice: Abstracts and people enjoying the park are examples of themes that do not fit into any of the other categories

How to Apply?

Participants are allowed to enter up to five photographs in any combination of categories (not per category, but in total).To ensure submission eligibility, contestants must email their submissions to cpcphotocontest@gmail.com during the Contest Entry Period. You must provide your contact information, such as the photographer’s first and last name, mailing address, phone number, adult or youth category – if youth, provide age. Consider including the following information for each photo: photo title, category. If any of the information listed above is missing, the entry may be rejected.

Benefits

All award winners will be acknowledged on the Conservancy’s digital platforms and may be included in press releases. Cullinan Park Conservancy will also offer several awards. If an entry wins more than one award, they will get the reward with the highest monetary value. The Grand Prize winner will get a $100 credit to the Cullinan online store. The first-place winners will get a prize worth $25 to 50 $ credit to the Cullinan online store.

The contest will end at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021. Late applications will not be accepted.
